Вряд ли есть хоть кто–то, кто не знает Марию Склодовскую. Маня, как звали ее в детстве, родилась 7 ноября 1867 года в Варшаве, на окраине Российской империи и внесла за свою жизнь невосполнимый вклад в науку. Она преодолела путь от обычной гувернантки до величайшего ученого современности.
Ее свадьба с Пьером была без подвенечного платья и колец. На деньги, подаренные родственниками, новобрачные купили два велосипеда и укатили в свадебное путешествие за город. Ее девиз был: «Жизнь не стоит того, чтобы так много заботиться о ней».
За начало 20 века она потеряет мужа и получит две Нобелевские премии по физике и химии (единственная женщина по настоящий момент, кто имеет 2 Нобелевские премии). Столкнется с завистью французской академии наук и настоящей травлей. Вплоть до своей смерти в 1934 году она продолжала работать в Радиевом институте, названном так в честь отрытым ей вещества.
Во французском Пантеоне, она единственная женщина среди великих французов. Ее прах перезахоронили там в 1995 году по личному распоряжению президента страны Франсуа Миттерана.
